Kenyans have a chance to get free dental check up this month offered by leading tooth paste manufacturer, Colgate-Palmolive East Africa Ltd.
“Taking care of your teeth and gums is critical, it is never too late to start focusing on your oral health and making those small changes in improving your oral hygiene,” said Cheslin Twigg, Professional Relations Manager at Colgate-Palmolive East West Africa.

The toothpaste manufacturer has partnered with the Kenyan Dental Association and will not only offer free dental checkups but also oral health education countrywide in a bid to raise awareness.
“The Ministry of Health under which Kenya Dental Association operates is a major stakeholder in the provision of oral health care services in this country has been at the forefront in ensuring that oral health services are available, accessible and affordable to the Kenyan population,” said Dr. Wetende, the chairman of Kenya Dental Association.
“The latest data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) states that there are approximately 7752 dentists (70 per cent Urban) in Africa. This comes to about 1 dentist per 100,000 people (in Kenya it is 1:42,000) therefore many African consumers do not have experience with dentists. Those who do, visit the dentist when problems arise instead of as a means to get professional check-ups and advice before a problem occurs.”
With the theme, Let’s get to zero cavities together”, it will offer the free checkups at ten Naivas stores nationwide every Saturday and Sunday this month.
It will also run a social media competition at each dental check-up activation and on the Colgate Kenya Facebook page. People stand a chance to win 1 of 10 cash prizes worth KSHS 10,000 each if get a free dental check-up,take a selfie on their phone with the #ColgateSmilefie frame provided at the activation and upload it to Kenya Colgate Facebook.
The venue dates are:Naivas Kitengela, 22nd October, Machacos Super Center-23rd October, Naivas Kubwa, 29th October, Naivas Nakuru-30th October
