The children’s traffic park in Nairobi will on December hold the second edition of its Wheels in the Park event in a bid to continue its children bicycle safety education.
“Wheels in the Park is a children’s bicycle race and car boot sale event for the whole family, said Tallam Marion, one of the event organizers. “But it is not only that, we will also continue teaching about children bicycle safety rules and it is a perfect way to encourage children to participate outdoors, and keep fit while giving back to the community.”
During the bicycle racing competition, parents will have the chance to cheer on the sidelines for their children as they and also enjoy activities on the green.
“The event involves basically anything on wheels such as; pushbikes, tricycles, bicycles, scooters, model cars, prams etc. are welcome for a zoom around the circuit for prizes,” she said.
The bicycle race categories will include: ducklings for the 18 months to 3 years babies, bunnies for the 4 years to 6 years old children, foxes 7 years to 9 years and lions 10 years to 12 years old.
There will be food, music and entertainment throughout the day and parents can also sell/buy or swap children products with other caregivers.
“What makes it even better is Kids Car Boot supports a selected children’s home with the donations from the event. So instead of loading up your car and taking the things you did not swap or sell back home, they can be donated to the children’s home donation point at the end of the event.”
It will be held on Saturday 3rd December, 2016, from 11 am to 5pm. The entry charges are Sh500 per child, Sh800 at the gate and Sh1000 for car boot sale vendors, Sh1800 at the gate. Parents it is Sh200 at the gate but if paid in advance for their children they get in for free.
