Kenya kids have a chance to star in an upcoming children’s television show set to air in a month’s time.

The show which will feature children showcasing their various talent will hold auditions Saturday March 5, 2016 at Kenyatta University.

“I will be looking for children between the ages of three and thirteen years who can dance, do poetry or have even written storybooks,” said Hilda Wamalwa.

After graduating with a degree in theatre, arts and film, Hilda decided to take up children’s programming for the pure love of it.

“I did a unit while in school on children’s theatre and loved working with kids because they are so natural. It’s therefore quite easy to get good footage even when they are not aware,” said Hilda.

For the auditions, it will be a verbal interview where Hilda will try to learn more about the child.

“I am looking for children that are eloquent, can easily communicate and express themselves,” said Hilda.

After the auditions, shooting will begin immediately in the afternoon.

“For this Saturday we will use Kenyatta University to shoot the show but we will change it with time,” said Hilda.

The show, whose main target audience is children will feature them showcasing a number of talents.

“ We will have actors, dancers and poets on the show. There will also be a storytelling segment whereby the kids will be the audience. Child authors will also be interviewed on the show,” said Hilda.

Seeing that the show is Hilda’s inaugural production, kids will also need to pay a fee in order to appear thereby helping to cover costs.

“Children coming with their parents will pay Sh4500 while those coming with their school will pay Sh200 per child,” said Hilda.

The fee is subject to change with time.

The production will be shot three times a week and should be done within a month. So far, the show is already scheduled to air on K.U TV once production has been finalised. She is also courting other television stations such as NTV.
