A social enterprise is raising awareness of its children's digital literacy program through a kids concert. Dubbed Kids Comp Concert, the event aims to not only create awareness but also raise funds towards the initiative.
Kids Comp Concert, the first of its kind will see Kenyan kids treated to an afternoon of fun all the while trying to get across the message of the social initiative.
“We will have a variety of performers to entertain the children and we hope this will create a buzz about our digital literacy initiative-Kids Comp Camp” said Caleb Ndaka who is the Project Lead for the concert.
Kids Comp Camp is a program run by the social enterprise Africa Centurion that seeks to provide digital literacy to children areas through holiday training initiatives. Targeting upper primary children, it is currently present in various counties in Kenya. These are Machakos, Tana River, Nyeri and Kitui.
The performers gracing the event will range from musicans to dance crews.
“We will have three live bands-G Clef, Vereso and Uncovered; performing artistes and two dance crews,” remarked Caleb.
Being run by a social enterprise called Africa Centurion, the event seeks to do three main things for the Kids Comp Camp initiative.
“Firstly, we want to create more awareness of the program and also raise support for it,” noted the Kids Comp Concert project lead.
Caleb goes on to add that the concert also hopes to raise funds to feed the children that attend the Kids Comp Camp and enable subsidies for volunteer trainers.
The concert will be held on Sunday May 31st at Parklands Baptist Church and will run from 3pm to 6pm. It will cost Sh500 per person with tickets being bought via M-Pesa on till number 308199.
