mothers-dayIt is that time of the year again when mothers world over are appreciated  for the selfless love they bring to our families each day.  With the day gaining an audience in Kenya every year, more and more events, offers and gift prizes are coming up on how to celebrate her. Artsy Mum
For the mothers interested in plays, art exhibitions, culture shows then this year's Mother's Day will not disappoint.

The Louis Leakey Auditorium at the National Museum is showing a play called My Mum, My Queen. The play follows the journey of motherhood along with the joys and tears that come with it. This next one is not a Mother's Day event but seing that it falls this weekend, it might just as well apply.  Landmark conductor, Tony Davies is celebrating 50 years of conducting with a retirement concert. Brought to you by the Nairobi Music Society(NMS), the concert which will be held at All Saints Cathedral will see Davies along with the NMS choir, soloists and Nairobi Orchestra present Mozart's Requiem. The concert will happen on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th at 7.30pm and 3pm respectively. Sporty Mum
For the one who is not afraid to get down and dirty, these activities are sure to tickle their fancy.

Rolf's Place in Rongai is offering families paintballing, swimming and teambuilding activities. Paintballing is a sport whereby players compete to eliminate opponents by tagging them with capsules containing water-soluble dye and featuring a gelatin outer shell (referred to as paintballs) propelled from a device called a paintball marker (commonly referred to as a paintball gun).Mothers-Day-8x10-PictureFor Sh2500, one will be able to enjoy a full session of paintballing (100 paint-balls) which comes with a Paint ball instructor. This fee also caters to  lunch, transport to and from Nairobi and team building fun games.

Another event not specifically for Mother's Day but is sure to be enjoyed by those who like running in the wild. This year's Lukenya Trail Run will take place on Sunday May 10th at Lukenya Academy. It will see participants run on a 5km, 10km or 20km trail while viewing wild animals along the way.  Citizens will be charged Sh3000 while residents will pay Sh3500. Mall Mums
For mothers who live for the mall, here are a few places to visit this weekend

The Village Market is paying tribute to mothers with an event called A Moment In Time. The tribute will be to amazing women some of which will be from Kenyan celebrities. There will also be giveaways and special pampering for mothers.

The little ones will be kept busy at Bee Crafty which will be offering free arts and crafts activities and mothers can get henna tattoos as they wait.
The KEDE Band will be at the Food Zone to entertain with lovely ballads.
The mall is also running a competition that will see one mother win a shopping spree. One has to nominate their mother on Galleria's Facebook page by saying what they love about her, and what they would want to tell her this Mother's Day.
