Kenyan parents have a chance to take their children to a baby fair hosted by the Nairobi Women’s Hospital on 30th April that will see them get free medical services.
“There reason we are holding this fair is because celebrating happy milestones is a big part of life for parents of young children,” said Geoffery Korio, the communications officer at the Nairobi women’s hospital. “It is also a time for questions, concern and uncertainty as parents rush between doctor’s appointments, baby-proofing their home and stocking up on appropriate clothing and supplies. The fair will give parents the opportunity to ask the doctors any questions.”
Some of the services that they offer on the day include; free deworming, free pediatric and nutrition consultations, development milestones assessment and vitamin A supplementation among others.
“We recognize these challenges of early parenthood and that babies are susceptible to childhood and developmental diseases,” he said. “We will provide helpful parenting information to all new and expecting parents on All things Baby.”
But it will not just be a day of medical services there will also be some fun for the kids with interactive activities such as; bouncy castles face painting and snacks to keep the children entertained as they get medical attention.
The fair will be for babies between 0-12 years of age. Parents and guuardians accompanying the babies will get free deworming and dental check up. It will take place across all branches of Nairobi Women’s Hospital i.e. Hurlingham, Adams, Ongata Rongai, Kitengela and Nakuru.
